Since the launch of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is more open than ever before welcoming people from around the globe. With the introduction of the e-visa in 2019, millions of visitors have been drawn to the Kingdom, which has helped in creating jobs and driving local economic growth.

To further promote the country as a tourist destination, initiatives in the areas of archaeology, culture, education, and the arts are being undertaken to preserve the Kingdom’s rich heritage and natural beauty, while opening it up to the world. Major events like the Red Sea International Film Festival and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix are attracting visitors and showcasing the Kingdom’s warm hospitality.

Additionally, as a central location in the Arab and Islamic world, Saudi Arabia is enhancing its facilities and services to provide pilgrims with an unforgettable spiritual experience. As it welcomes the world to come and experience its unique offering, the Kingdom’s breathtaking beauty and rich heritage make it a must-visit destination.

100 Million Visitors

Earlier in March 2024, The Saudi Tourism Ministry Celebrated 100 Million visitors, 7 years ahead of it’s Vision 2030 target.

The surge in tourism saw more than 106 million domestic and international visitors, marking a 56% increase from 2019 and a 12% rise from 2022. This growth has significantly bolstered non-oil revenues and job creation.

The achievement has garnered international recognition, with accolades from UN Tourism and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), acknowledging Saudi Arabia’s rapid development in the tourism sector.

The Kingdom’s success story is built on a foundation of strategic initiatives and reforms that have propelled its tourism sector to new heights. With a staggering 390% increase in demand for tourism activity licenses in 2023 and the contribution of tourism to the non-oil GVA estimated to exceed 7%, Saudi Arabia’s vision for the future is clear. With the tourism sector’s direct contribution to the GDP estimated to exceed  4 %, the country has showcased its resilience, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
